This page features the predictable anniversaries and calendar-days for the year, not all of which are widely celebrated on St Helena. Some events cannot be predicted (e.g. the Queen’s Birthday Public Holiday{1}) and are therefore omitted. Many of these dates vary from year to year{2} and thus require calculation{3} (if you spot an error please contact us). Some American holidays are included, celebrated particularly by Saints that have worked on Ascension Island.

Fake dates in common use:
• 30th February is often used as a sarcastic date, referring to something that will never happen or will never be done.
• May 35 is used in mainland China to avoid censorship when referring to the Tiananmen Square Massacre of 1989; the events took place on 4th June.

Footnotes:
{1} The date of which is decided each year by The Governor.{2} For example Easter, and its linked events, and things like Remembrance Sunday which falls on the 2nd Sunday in November.{3} See liability disclaimer.{4} Please note that all ‘current’ times are calculated from your device’s clock, so are only as accurate as you make them…
